Sc1 It was 7pm and Bern had washed up at Red's Place, a shabby converted frontal area at the entrance to a 4 roomed guest house down a one track alleyway, off Soi YKW.
You might think of it as a back street mews off Kings Rd, Chelsea, London where Coachmen lived above their horses, below.
But this was the Big Mango (Bangkok) and Bern was a stunted TEFLER teaching English to HiSo spoilt brats of wealthy parentage.
"I'm bored," said Bern, listlessly, to the Food street hawker — Lilo Lill — a soubriquet from her younger days during the Vietnam War.
All those horny young conscripts on furlough with a few bucks for a short time.
She never produced kids (for medical reasons?) and yet 20 years later, Lill was still very comely and had kept her figure — and a useful twinkle for trade as needed.
But Lill's USP was a portable electric single portion pizza oven that she used on her street stall (with a mains supply from the house behind).
She had once had a "Sponsor" — Sugar Daddy Sergeant — an Italian from New York who had left the oven behind as his leaving present to Lill.
She'd had dreams of going to NY, but that was a pipe dream of course — Sarge had a wife and two kids already.
